Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

If you are interested in Unity Asset Transformer SDK, please contact Sales. If you already have access and are looking to get started, please visit the Unity Asset Transformer documentation homepage.

Unity Asset Transformer (formerly known as Pixyz) has a long history of automated tools, and the Scenario Processor was created to ease deployment of existing scenarios and data-preparation recipes, prepared and tested in Unity Asset Transformer Studio beforehand. Same as the Scenario Processor, Unity Asset Transformer SDK aims at helping our users industrialize and accelerate their 3D digital transformation by enabling the creation of scalable, cost-effective, and secure 3D content-optimization pipelines.

With the introduction of a complete set of SDKs to be deployed as a standalone application in a local data center or on a private cloud solution, we aim at improving the integration and use of Unity Asset Transformer technology within your application and infrastructure.

Pixyz Scenario Processor generation 2022.1 is no longer available for download. However, existing Pixyz Scenario customers are still able to access and use the technology. Consider transitioning to Unity Asset Transformer SDK (Python) for up-to-date data file support and transformation capabilities. Read the following FAQs for more information.

As Unity Asset Transformer SDK is being launched along with a dedicated UI* acting as a companion app to the scripting experience, Unity Asset Transformer Studio naturally changes its position in the product stack. From Version 2024 onwards, Unity Asset Transformer Studio will focus on interactive data-preparation tasks.

Unity Asset Transformer Studio continues to feature a Python API interface, enabling the creation of simple scripts and plugins designed to enhance its out-of-the-box capabilities and create custom actions to help users work more efficiently. Note that Unity Asset Transformer Studio plugins will no longer be compatible with Unity Asset Transformer SDK, therefore they are not strongly recommended. Finally, PyQt native support has been discontinued, so Studio plugins are limited to what the XML structure can offer.

Customers wishing to create advanced interfaces should use the full power of Unity Asset Transformer SDK.

With Unity Asset Transformer SDK, you can ingest, optimize, and convert CAD or 3D assets with perfectly tessellated meshes from almost any engineering or design software. You can also export ready-to-use assets for any 3D staging or rendering tool like Unity, 3ds Max, Maya, Unreal Engine, web experiences, and more.

If you’re looking for solutions to take full control of your on-premises data and with no limitations in terms of integration or use: Unity Asset Transformer SDK is the ideal technology. You can bring complex data from the CAD-engineering world to the 3D visualization world, or support game-development efforts using best-in-class mesh simplification tools.

We know that addressing CAD and 3D challenges through Unity Asset Transformer SDK is a sizable investment for many companies. Although we strongly believe that this new SDK offers great value, alternative offerings now exist within the Unity ecosystem: Unity Asset Manager and Unity Cloud Automation.

Aside from its availability as a standalone, on-premises, 1-year subscription solution, Unity Asset Transformer capabilities also are available with Unity Asset Manager and Automation services, allowing users to perform cloud-based transformations and better serve game and industry customers’ needs.

No, Unity Asset Transformer SDK is a standalone product requiring a specific set of licenses. Unity Industry does include Unity Asset Transformer Toolkit for Unity for interactive integration of your existing assets within Unity. It lets you manually import any 3D or CAD file type, gain full control over mesh size and quality, and optimize your data for better performance.

Please contact Sales for pricing information.

Any current Unity Asset Transformer users should consider migrating to the latest versions of the portfolio: Unity Asset Transformer Studio 2024, Unity Asset Transformer SDK 2024, or Unity Asset Transformer Toolkit for Unity 2.0.x or newer.

Although migrating from Pixyz Scenario Processor to Unity Asset Transformer SDK (Python) will be straightforward as both APIs share a lot of similarities, the development experience is evolving and Unity Asset Transformer Studio will no longer be mandatory.

Starting in July 2024, we recommend that Unity Asset Transformer SDK developers/integrators use their favorite IDE (PyCharm, VSCode, etc.) to develop for Unity Asset Transformer.

Yes, like any other Unity Asset Transformer products, our Unity Asset Transformer SDK is available for testing and evaluation phases within your own infrastructure. Please contact Sales to request a trial and to join us for a live presentation with a Unity Solution Consultant and Product teams.
