Hauwert to Speak at Flash Day Designed to Introduce Flash Users to Unity

SAN FRANCISCO, CA and COPENHAGEN, DENMARK - Aug 2, 2011 - Unity Technologies, provider of the Unity development platform for awesome games and interactive 3D on the web, iOS, Android, consoles and beyond, today announced the appointment of industry Adobe® Flash® 3D veteran Ralph Hauwert to the position of Senior Developer at Unity Technologies' Copenhagen office.

As a technical expert with more than a decade of experience in online creative development and a strong background in Flash, Hauwert has been involved in several high profile and critically awarded projects, including the Anne Frank Annex Online 3D, KPN's House of Tomorrow, Earthmine and Papervision3D. As an industry recognized leader and pioneer within the Flash community, he has set milestones in the field of Flash 3D and the open source Flash movement.

"My mission at Unity Technologies is simple -- to further develop Unity's Flash Player toolchain for the web, which has been in development since our announcement prior to GDC 2011. With this new toolchain, we will ensure that our customers can continue to deploy their content to the broadest possible range of users," said Ralph Hauwert, Senior Developer at Unity Technologies. "Furthermore with the power of the Unity platform, the Flash publishing toolchain allows for unparalleled content creation options for Flash. With the ability to transparently publish for mobile, desktop and web through the Unity Web Player and the Flash Player, Unity developers will be more empowered than ever."

Following the announcement of Adobe's Molehill version of Flash in January 2011 which added support for 3D, the engineering team at Unity Technologies has been working at full production on adding a Flash player exporting option to the Unity platform. The Flash Player export option is expected to go into beta in late 2011.

"When a guy like Hauwert is joining, you know you are doing something right," said Steffen Toksvig, VP of Engineering at Unity Technologies. "We are very excited to have him on the Unity team as we expand our platform reach on the web."

Hauwert will be one of the speakers at Unity Technologies' Flash Day designed to introduce Flash users to the Unity development platform. Flash Day will take place on September 27, the day before Unite 11 kicks off.
