Rewarded Video

What is Rewarded Video?

Rewarded video is an opt-in ad format where a player chooses to watch a short video ad in exchange for an in-game reward, such as virtual currency, extra lives, or a power-up. Because players choose to engage, rewarded video earns high completion rates and some of the strongest eCPMs in mobile advertising.

How does Rewarded video work?

Unlike interstitials or banner ads, which appear automatically, rewarded video plays only when the player asks for it, usually by tapping a clearly labeled prompt (“Watch an ad for 50 coins”). The player watches the full ad, then receives the reward. Because it's opt-in, the experience stays under the player's control, which is why completion rates are high.

How is Rewarded video used?

Rewarded video works best when it's tied to natural moments in gameplay, such as earning currency, continuing after a loss, or unlocking a bonus. It's a core monetization tool for free-to-play games because it earns revenue from players who never make a purchase, without forcing ads on anyone. Well-placed rewarded video can lift both retention and revenue.
