Shogo Ueda, Chief, G Production Equipment Engineering Department, at Bridgestone Corporation explores how extended reality (XR) is useful for verifying large products and user perspectives in the manufacturing industry, such as factory construction and remodeling work. Design quality can be improved by evaluating the movements of people facing the building and ease of use, which are difficult to judge with a 3D viewer.
In this presentation you will discover a factory prepared in a life-size 3D virtual space, and realized as an in-house metaverse where people could gather remotely as avatars to experience it together and exchange opinions. Made possible by utilizing Unity's standard library, apps were built and operated in-house.
What you will learn
・Examples of XR use in engineering and manufacturing.
・Business benefits unique to XR experiences that cannot be obtained with a 3D viewer.
・Examples of VR multiplayer apps that can be realized with Unity components and templates.
This presentation was recorded at the Unity Industrial Digital Transformation (Sangyo DX) conference in Tokyo, June 2025.
