Pixyz Plugin (included with Unity Industry) turns precise engineering data from CAD and BIM formats into lightweight meshes, which is also useful for technical artists’ workflows. Pixyz Plugin makes it simple to optimize 3D models for accuracy with a high-polygon mesh (for desktop applications), or optimize for performance with a lower-polygon mesh (for mobile, VR, and web). After import, you can also create levels of detail (LODs) for your assets at different distances to further improve performance - an exclusive feature of Pixyz Plugin. Demo: A user decimates (reduces the polygon count) of a tire mesh – resulting in a still accurate but lighter-weight model. Pixyz algorithms retain the critical geometry, with 50% fewer triangles.

Implement realistic lighting in scenes

Unity has a wide range of tools to create realistic environments – giving you full control over light and shadows, raytracing, subsurface scattering, and more. Many of these tools are available through drop-down menus and don’t require programming. Demo: The user created a light, enabled soft shadows using a drop-down Inspector menu, then rotates the light through the scene.

Apply realistic physics to your simulations

Unity has many tools to simulate real-world physics for your projects – allowing you to modify the friction of a rainy road as cars drive along it, the collisions of a tractor lifting soil, or the jostling of items across a conveyor belt. You can access many of these physics interactions from the menus – and program detailed behaviors using C# scripting. Nothing has more reach than a 3D experience hosted on the web – Unity supports WebGL technology. Demo: A user selects the WebGL deployment target in their build settings, and builds their experience to a folder. That experience is then embedded into a customer-facing website.
