To scale their games beyond traditional UA channels, Falcon Games turned to the Unity team to explore leveraging the Tapjoy offerwall. Since utilizing the offerwall, the Tapjoy network has become one of the studio's top UA channels, delivering high-quality users with a retention rate 20% higher than other video networks and increasing revenue significantly across Falcon Games’ titles*.
Conquering the studio's concerns with data
During a Unity industry event in Vietnam, Falcon Games first learnt of the potential of the Tapjoy offerwall channel for acquiring high-quality users. The publisher expressed their interest in the channel, but had two primary concerns: its scalability and the support Unity would offer.
To address scalability, the Unity team demonstrated the offerwall’s capability to deliver high-quality users at scale, focusing on the correlation between higher user LTV and specific in-game event milestones. Moreover, the Unity team explained that with the Tapjoy offerwall, the studio would only pay for users who actively engage.
As for support, the Unity team guided the advertiser through onboarding and offered sustained, local guidance to ensure robust performance into the long-term, including tech support and performance management.
Strategic support for optimal performance
With support from the Unity team and performance managers, Falcon Games strategically leveraged the Tapjoy offerwall in their games, starting with the Daily Rewards campaign type. Once this proved effective, they added the Tapjoy offerwall’s Multi Rewards campaigns across their portfolio of games.
To ensure optimal performance, the Unity team provided support and best practices throughout the process - guiding the advertiser step-by-step. The Unity team closely monitored each offer, providing recommendations on event types and bid levels to ensure a strong launch. Alongside this, they conducted regular performance reviews and offered optimization suggestions to augment performance and monetization opportunities.
Once the campaign was running, the Unity team continued to offer best practice recommendations to leverage the offerwall to the fullest. For example, the team recommended managing bids by source and adjusting them manually based on performance data. The team also recommended the studio add and remove events based on user engagement to ensure the offerwall continued to deliver optimally relevant offers.
In order to increase efficiency further and allow the advertiser to scale more effectively, the Unity team granted Falcon access to self-serve capabilities. This enabled Falcon Games’ UA managers to leverage the Tapjoy offerwall independently, significantly reducing the time for campaigns to go live.
Driving revenue through high-quality, engaged offerwall users
Following these recommendations, in less than a year Falcon Games scaled their Tapjoy activity from 0 to 119 active offers across 38 games and 122 geos*. The Tapjoy network has since become one of Falcon Games top UA channels, recognized internally for delivering high-quality users with a retention rate 20% higher than other video networks. Ultimately the Tapjoy offerwall has enabled Falcon Games to increase revenue significantly across their titles.
