Change in Contracting Entity Update (June 2023)
What’s changing?
For Unity Asset Store Publishers:
Starting June 2023, the Unity entity on self-invoices stating Asset Store payouts will be Unity Technologies SF (Unity SF), a California corporation. Publishers located in Denmark may see changes to VAT on their self-invoice, which may be subject to reporting requirements.
Prior to June 2023, the Unity Asset Store Publisher payout process was made from Unity Technologies ApS (Unity ApS), the Danish entity.
We have prepared a Tax FAQ for Publishers for some common tax information questions from Publishers. If you have any further questions on the tax implications of this change for your business, please consult with your tax advisor.
I submit or receive payments via PayPal - what should I know?
PayPal payments are now being settled with an account associated with Unity SF. No action is required on your part.

Change in Contracting Entity (December 2022)
Change in Contracting Entity FAQs
I saw a notification that said Unity is changing its contracting entity- what’s going on?
Unity is changing the Create contracting entity from Denmark to the US, meaning that products and services being offered by Unity’s Create business, currently sold by Unity Technologies ApS (Unity ApS) will now be sold out from another affiliate, Unity Technologies SF (Unity SF). This is an internal change to streamline our business and will not impact your day to day business operations, other than changing the bank account where you send payments. As such, Unity ApS is assigning all agreements to Unity SF.
What is an assignment?
This is the process through which Unity SF will assume the responsibility for the performance of your contract with Unity ApS.
What will change?
If you pay by credit card, you may see a different name (Unity Technologies SF) on your bill. If you pay with PayPal, in the future you may be asked to set up a new payment directly to Unity Technologies SF, but for the foreseeable future our existing PayPal account will receive payments and recurring payments will not be affected.
Do I have to take any action?
If you pay by Credit Card, no. If you pay with PayPal, in the future you may be asked to set up a new payment directly to Unity Technologies SF, but for the foreseeable future our existing PayPal account will receive payments and recurring payments will not be affected.
When is the change happening?
The assignment to Unity SF will be effective as of January 1, 2023
What is the relationship between Unity ApS and Unity SF?
Both Unity ApS and Unity SF are 100% owned subsidiaries (directly or indirectly) of Unity Software Inc.
What benefits will you have when our selling entity moves to Unity SF?
In changing our selling entity from Unity ApS to Unity SF, you will be able to more easily purchase multiple products under the Unity umbrella.
