Unity SDK provides creators with access to the world’s largest network of AR capable devices
SAN FRANCISCO, August 29, 2017 -- Unity Technologies, the creator of the world’s most popular creation engine that powers 2/3rds of all Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) experiences, announced today that its worldwide community of developers can now download the preview of Google’s ARCore SDK for Unity. The SDK, which leverages native integration with Unity 2017.2 Beta 9 and higher, allows Unity developers to easily create AR experiences for Android devices, as well as add AR to existing Android apps to help drive user engagement and revenue growth.

Unity powers the world’s most immersive and creative AR experiences today, and now the creators that are driving innovation in this space can optimize and extend their AR creations across the Android ecosystem. Google used Unity to build ARCore demos that showed off the capabilities of the SDK, including an AR tabletop demo and a demo with Oz characters, which can be viewed here.

The ARCore SDK for Unity is an Augmented Reality software solution that was developed in partnership with Google to ensure optimal AR performance for current and future Android devices. ARCore will run on millions of devices, starting today with the Pixel and the Samsung Galaxy S8, running 7.0 Nougat and above. The ARCore SDK for Unity gives developers the power to scale their existing apps and add AR integrations that extend its capabilities, or to build a brand new AR experience.
