The date you sign up for your subscription is the same date your payment is due each month. For example, if you begin your subscription on the 15th of the month, you’ll be charged for subsequent months on the 15th.
Since it's not possible to purchase multiple subscriptions on the same Organization, it's also not possible to combine different payment plans. For example, you cannot have a 12-month prepaid subscription & a pay monthly subscription on the same Organization.
In what countries is tax charged on a subscription?
Unity collects consumption tax on subscriptions where it is required by law. Please get in touch with your local tax authority for details in your country of residence. VAT and tax numbers are given by local tax authorities and allow you to avoid paying consumption taxes from purchases made on any Unity store page if you are exempt from doing so. For information about adding your tax number to your account, see the Knowledge Base article: How do I add my tax number?
You can find the full release notes for the most recent Unity release on the What's New page. You can find release notes for all previous Unity versions using the drop-down menu on the right side of the same page.
Where can I find the Unity Roadmap?

Can I activate two different versions of Unity on the same machine?
You can have as many versions of the Unity Editor installed and activated on your machine as you need with the help of the Unity Hub. To find out more about the Unity Hub, see the Knowledge Base article: What is the Unity Hub?
How can I release the license from the machine I am using?
Serial numbers, also known as license keys, let the Unity Editor know what level of access to give each user. This is why it is required as part of the activation process. Personal Edition users do not need a serial number to activate – they have a different option to select during the activation process. For Pro and Enterprise users, you can find your license key via your ID account by clicking My Seats to the left of the screen in your account settings. Please see the following Knowledge Base article for more information: How do I find my license serial number?
The fastest way to activate your license is online. Please see the following Knowledge Base article for guidance on activating your license: How do I activate my license?
All Unity subscriptions include access to our powerful, real-time 3D Engine alongside various services to help manage, operate, and monetize your projects. For the full details on what's included with each subscription, take a look at the Compare Plans table on the Unity webstore.
What is the “Made with Unity” splash screen?
The Unity Splash Screen is uniform across all platforms. It displays promptly while the first Scene loads asynchronously in the background. This is different from your own introductory screens or animations, which can take time to appear due to Unity having to load the entire engine and first Scene before displaying them. The Unity Editor allows you to configure a Splash Screen for your project. The level to which you can customize the Unity Splash Screen depends on your Unity subscription. Depending on whether you have Unity Personal or Unity Pro, you can disable the Unity Splash Screen entirely, disable the Unity logo, and add your own logos, among other options. For more information about configuring the Splash Screen, see our Documentation page.
Unity supports the following currencies: USD, EUR, JPY, KRW, CNY, and BRL (restrictions apply). Our primary payment gateway is WorldPay, which covers most markets. For more information, please see the Knowledge Base article: What currency are subscriptions paid in?
I just subscribed but I need to assign a seat. How do I do that?
To access your new subscription, you will need to assign yourself a seat to receive a serial key and activate your license. If you purchased the subscription on behalf of an organization, you need to assign each user a seat before they can activate their license. Please see the following Knowledge Base article for a step-by-step guide: How do I assign a seat to a user?
I am seeing the error 'Your serial number is not valid’ when attempting to activate through the Unity Hub. What does this mean?
Yes, you can use your Unity license offline by manually activating. However, some services such as the Package Manager and Collaborate are not available offline. For more information, please see the Knowledge base article: How do I activate my license?
Unity licenses are associated with the Organization on which a subscription was purchased. This means that if a user leaves an Organization, the license seat can be revoked, then re-assigned to another user within the same Organization by a Manager or Owner.
Renewing, upgrading, or downgrading subscriptions*
Software subscriptions are not cancellable during your commitment period and are non-refundable. This means that once you commit to a subscription for a certain period of time, you are obligated to pay all payments owing for that period. Even if you stop making payments and your license is shut down, you are still obligated to pay the outstanding payment(s) for your subscription period. Please see the Unity Terms of Service, which include additional terms for the Unity Software, for more details.
Can I upgrade my subscription?
Yes, you can upgrade your subscription to an available higher tier via your Unity ID. You will begin a new commitment term when you upgrade, and any prepaid amount remaining from the original term will be credited towards your upgrade payment. For more information, please see the Knowledge Base article: How do I upgrade my subscription tier?
During your commitment period, it is not possible to downgrade your subscription to a lower tier. You can upgrade your subscription to a higher tier whilst in your commitment period. However, you cannot reduce the number of seats if you upgrade. Please see the following Knowledge Base article for more information: How do I upgrade my subscription Tier?
Can I change the number of seats in my subscription?
Yes, your subscription will automatically renew with the same commitment term and payment frequency as your original subscription, unless you change your renewal settings or plan option in your Unity ID before your next scheduled renewal date.
When you create a Unity ID, the system automatically creates a default Organization under your account. Organizations are a way of organizing your projects and licenses through our website. Subscription and Asset Store purchases are associated with your Organization.
Organizations are a way of organizing your projects, subscriptions and assets through the Unity website. Anyone associated with an Organization has access to that Organization's licenses, projects and financial information, based on their Organization role. For more information, please see the Knowledge Base article: What is an Organization?
In an Organization, you have different administrative rights depending on whether you are an Owner, Manager, or User. Different roles give access to certain levels of administrative rights within an Organization. For more information, please see the article: What can Owners, Managers, and Users do in an Organization?
Groups are a tool to help larger organizations better manage their teams. An Owner or Manager of an Organization can take members from their Organization, put them in a group, and add that group to a Unity project, thereby giving members in that group access.
A project lives inside a Unity Organization. Unity projects have access to Unity services in that Organization and can be shared and managed with others through Unity. Anyone who is a part of that Organization has access to that project.
However, you can also invite people from outside the Organization into a specific project through the editor. They will have access to everything in that project, but they won't have any access to anything else in the same Organization.
Unity provides features to allow users associated with a Unity project to create faster and communicate better with each other. Users associated with a Unity project can also use the Unity services associated with the Unity project’s Organization.
What happens if my Unity seat is reassigned/revoked?
Owners of an Organization can revoke Unity seats at any time. This may be required if the Owner wishes to transfer the seat to a new user within the Organization.
Once a seat has been revoked, the user will be notified via email. If your seat has been revoked and you believe this to be a mistake, please contact the Organization's Owner directly. For more information, please see the Knowledge Base article: How can I revoke a seat in my Organization?
When you subscribe to Unity, you purchase a seat or access rights for each person in your Organization using Unity. For example, if you have 10 users on your team, you need a Unity Pro subscription with 10 seats, with each seat costing $150/month. For more information, please see the article What is a 'Seat'?
All seats can be distributed to members of an Organization by either the Owner or the Manager of that Organization. For more information, please see the article: How do I assign a seat to a user?
How do I manage seats on my subscription?
You can manage the seats in your subscription by going to Organization > Subscription > Seats. Under the Seat Management tab, you can see how many seats are assigned and left to be assigned. You can also revoke seats and re-assign them to new users.
A user can be a member of multiple Organizations and can thus be assigned a subscription seat from multiple Organizations. As a user, you can also bring a subscription seat with you when collaborating on another Organization's project. Please note, you cannot be assigned seats from multiple subscription tiers. For example, you cannot be assigned a Unity Pro seat in one Organization and a Unity Enterprise seat in another. Please see our Terms of Service for more information, and the following Knowledge Base article: I would like to have more than two activations on my license. What can I do?
