Development Platform Continues Expansion Into Asia With Opening of Tokyo Office

SAN FRANCISCO, CA and TOKYO - Sep 6, 2011 - Unity Technologies, provider of the Unity development platform for awesome games and interactive 3D on the web, iOS, Android, consoles and beyond, today announced that it is continuing its expansion into Asia with the opening of Unity Technologies Japan in Tokyo. The management team of Unity Technologies Japan will be led by Representative Director/Chairman Shinobu Toyoda, Director/President John Goodale and Regional Director Hiroki Omae. The subsidiary will serve as a sales, localization and support center for the further expansion of Unity Technologies in Japan.

"The Unity community throughout Japan has grown at an expeditious rate over the last few years," said Unity Technologies Japan Representative Director/Chairman Shinobu Toyoda. "With the opening of our Japan subsidiary, we look forward to offering our customers in the region full support and localization of the development platform."

With more than 20 years of experience in the interactive entertainment industry, Shinobu Toyoda served as Executive Vice President of Sega of America for 15 years and has served as Executive Advisor to Sega-Sammy Holdings and other Japanese companies throughout his career. He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and global connections in the industry to Unity Technologies Japan.

John Goodale has more than 15 years of experience in the interactive entertainment industry, working for companies such as Sega, Activision, Turner Broadcasting Systems and Crytek. He has lived and worked in Japan and is bilingual English-Japanese. He joined Unity Technologies last year to lead Unity's business throughout Asia and concurrently holds the positions of General Manager Asia of Unity Technologies and Director/President of Unity Technologies Japan.

Hiroki Omae has been working in the Japanese game industry for the last eight years. He served as Technical Director at From Software for five years and has been an independent game developer since 2009. In 2010, he joined Unity Technologies as Regional Director Japan, expanding the platform to native developers.

"The establishment of the Unity Technologies Japan office and the addition to our company of such a knowledgeable, passionate team further cement Unity Technologies' commitment to democratize games development globally," said Unity Technologies CEO David Helgason. "We look forward to offering the Japanese development community local support."

The Unity platform will be showcased from September 6 - 8, 2011 at the Computer Entertainment Developers Conference (CEDEC), Japan's largest game development conference. On September 8, Unity Technologies CEO David Helgason will present a Unity session on the growth of the platform and its expansion into Japan. He will be joined on stage by some of Unity Technologies' developer partners in Japan to discuss how they have used Unity in their game development. Unity Technologies is nominated in the Programming category of the CEDEC Awards.

Unity Technologies is actively recruiting staff to join its Tokyo office. Those interested should visit: https://unity3d.com/company/jobs/.
