Unity will institute changes in 2026 to make the free tiers for Unity Version Control and Unity Build Automation more generous. Unity is changing these plans to allow you to build for iOS on the free tier of Build Automation with 100 Mac build minutes (on top of the 200 build minutes we already include for Free when building for Windows). Plus, 25 GB of storage (up from 5 GB), and 100 GB of free egress. Additionally, there will no longer be charges on Unity Version Control seats for public cloud. We expect these changes to go into effect by the end of Q1, 2026.

The free allocation of cloud storage will be raised from 5GB to 25GB. Billing for storage will be measured in GB rather than GB-Hours to make usage simpler to comprehend. This cloud storage is shared across your Unity Version Control repository as well as Build Artifacts for Unity Build Automation.

The previous limit of 3 free seats for Unity Personal users will change to unlimited. The current 1:1 seats limit for Unity Pro, Enterprise, and Industry will be removed as well.

Accepted Answer

Unity Build Automation supports concurrent builds for multiple platforms. With this update, free-tier users will now also be able to build for iOS and macOS, with 100 Mac build minutes included. Additionally, a new billable meter for Egress consumption (outbound data transfer) is being introduced. You will receive a 100 GB free limit for Egress; usage beyond that threshold will be charged. If you exceed a free-tier limit and do not have a payment method on file, your access will be blocked immediately until a credit card is added.

Will credit card be required to use Unity Version Control or Unity Build Automation?

Anyone who possesses a Unity ID will be able to start using either service immediately within the free tier, with no credit card or checkout flow required. You can track your usage and costs within the free tier and will receive notifications when they are approaching or exceeding limits (e.g., at 50%, 75%, 90%, and 100% of consumption). If you cross a free-tier limit, access is blocked immediately. You can then unblock access by adding your credit card through the checkout flow for pay-as-you-go usage.

Unity will no longer offer entitlement nor first-party support for Havok Physics for Unity starting with Unity 6.3 LTS. Starting with Unity 6.3 LTS, the Microsoft Havok team can continue to offer an integration of Havok Physics for Unity as a regular third-party extension publisher. From that point onward, requests regarding availability, roadmap, pricing, and support for Havok Physics for Unity should be directed to the Microsoft Havok team.

Yes, technical support continues for users of Havok Physics for Unity in Unity 2022 LTS or Unity 6.0 LTS for the remainder of those LTS durations. However, if you migrate to Unity 6.3 LTS or a future version, Unity will no longer support or include Havok in 6.3, and any questions should be directed to Microsoft Havok.

We will be making adjustments to Unity pricing and packaging in line with last year’s commitment to predictable, annual price adjustments. Unity Pro and Enterprise will see a 5% price increase, starting January 12th, 2026.

Unity Pro is required if you have over $200,000 in total annual revenue and funding. Unity Enterprise is required if you have over $25 million in annual revenue and funding. Even if you make less than these thresholds, you can purchase Unity Pro and Unity Enterprise subscriptions at any time to take advantage of the many additional features they offer. If you have $25 million or more in annual revenue and funding, you will be required to upgrade to Unity Enterprise upon renewal after January 1, 2025. We will reach out to work with you on this transition.

All customers, including educational institutions and non-profits with a Unity Pro plan purchased directly from Unity and Unity Resellers, are subject to this price increase. For eligible educational institutions and non-profits, Unity offers access to software for free through the Education Grant License (EGL), subject to Unity’s EGL Eligibility Criteria and Terms of Service.

For Unity Enterprise, the new financial threshold ($25,000,000 USD or more) took effect on January 1, 2025 and applies to new and current subscriptions upon purchase, renewal, or upgrade.

As of September 12, 2024, we decided to cancel it based on extensive analysis and deep consultation with our games customers – to better align with the needs and expectations of the developer ecosystem that relies on Unity.
