Unity at I/ITSEC 2021

Join Unity at the world’s largest modeling, simulation and training event from November 29 to December 3, 2021 in Orlando, Florida. Unity and our partners have great things in store for you at our booth (#539) and across the show floor.

Unity booth at I/ITSEC (#539)

Stop by to chat with our team and check out our inspiring demos, created in partnership with a range of innovative organizations.

机器学习飞行培训模拟器
Machine learning flight training simulator

Developed in partnership with SAIC, this VR demo on the Varjo VR-3 showcases the power of using Unity’s portfolio of products to deliver a machine learning-enabled flight training experience.

This demo uses original data supplied by JAXA’s ALOS World 3D and Sentinel-2 cloudless (https://s2maps.eu by EOX IT Services GmbH), and contains modified Copernicus Sentinel data 2016 and 2017.

地理空间大规模灾害响应模拟
Geospatial large-scale disaster response simulation

Unity, in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Lockheed Martin Skunk Works®,  has developed a large-scale disaster relief simulation demonstration scenario using AWS’s new cloud capabilities and Lockheed Martin’s BattleVis simulation product. Using Unity’s real-time 3D platform, it leverages Unity’s round-earth geospatial streaming technology and HERE Premier 3D Cities and HERE 3D Buildings data.

离线任务规划
Offline mission planning

This demo uses Unity Mission Planner in conjunction with Boston Dynamics’ Spot mobile robot. Discover the technology that lets you generate mission plans and navigation solutions – without the need for direct manual control of the robot.

搜救任务
Search-and-rescue mission

Developed in partnership with CyberDream, this immersive VR experience on the HP Reverb G2 Omnicept Edition shows how you can enhance learning and training for a search-and-rescue mission. It uses Unity’s High Definition Render Pipeline (HDRP) to create a hyperrealistic experience.

3D Lightfield 沉浸式体验
3D Lightfield immersive experiences

See how 3D content can spring to life with immersive sensory experiences on Leia’s Lume Pad. By using nanotechnology to add depth, texture and light, content looks multidimensional and natural.

Unity sessions at I/ITSEC

Unity Machine Learning Agents (ML-Agents) for Training Intelligent Agents

November 29 | 8:30–10:00 | Room 320B | TUTORIAL

Discover the benefits of using ML to train intelligent agents (IAs), and explore use cases for ML-Agents throughout the DoD. Learn how to use ML to train IAs by leveraging an open-source project called ML-Agents, and see how to train agents via reinforcement learning in a walkthrough of a capture-the-flag scenario featuring several IAs (in an adversarial setting).

Presenters:

  • Miguel Alonso Jr, Senior Machine Learning Engineer, Reinforcement Learning, Unity
  • Karthik Sundaram, Engineering Manager, AI and Computer Vision Services, Unity

Understanding and Generating Synthetic Data for Computer Vision Applications

November 29 | 12:45–14:15 | Room 320B | TUTORIAL

Discover the wide range of computer vision (CV) applications that can benefit from synthetic data. See how to generate synthetic data at scale for CV, including all of the annotations, automatically labeled without human interaction. You’ll also walk through a practical use case and learn how foreign object debris (FOD) systems can benefit from synthetic datasets.

Presenter:

  • Steven Borkman, Senior Software Engineer, Computer Vision, Unity

The TalX: XR Acceleration

December 1 | 15:30–17:30 | Destination Lounge | TALKS

Extended realities (AR/VR/MR) will be as ubiquitous as laptops and mobile devices in the coming years, and the training and simulation community is currently adopting these technologies at an increasing rate. How do we take full advantage of this pending expansion to realize the technology’s maximum value? Engage with an industry-recognized cast of thought leaders in the XR market to gain fresh perspectives and prepare to accelerate the use of extended realities.

Speaker:

  • Dave Rhodes, SVP and GM, Digital Twins, Unity

Computer Vision-Aided Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) Detection Using Synthetic Data

December 2 | 11:00 | Room 320A | PAPER

Presenters:

  • Russell Craig and Joe Mercado, Unity
  • Chris Kawatsu and Ben Purman, Soar Technology

Using the ML-Agents Toolkit and the Unity 3D Game Engine to Train Intelligent Agents
to Capture the Flag
